We have received feedback from our field users working on iPad who wish to have their multiple Work Orders on iPad colour-coded based on their statuses.
This will assist the technicians/engineers to quickly differentiate between Work Orders which are work in progress, pending parts, etc
How is the problem being addressed today, if at all?
The technician has to tap the Work Order one by one to check on the Work Order status. It can be time-consuming especially when the calendar is populated with large number of Work Orders
Currently, you can get up to 4 colors to display on the iPad calendar through the work order Priority field. If you are not actively using priority field, then you can associate statuses to priority values by updating the priority value through workflow when a work order status us changed. You can define the colors to be used through ServiceMax Setup > Org-wide profile > Module: ServiceMax iPad Client > SubModule: Calendar. Define the colors to be applied using hex codes for each of a priority value of: None, Low, Medium, High.
You cannot add custom priority values and you must update the ServiceMax priority field on the work order.
Effectively, we can manage the color of the event based Priority status on it and link that to the WO status? It's not enough and it's a work around. It will be better to have a a color event managment based on the Customer WO status and managed by him self.
Thanks for the reply and suggestion. It's still a work around though. We do not mandate use of priority in our WO management, but it does not mean it can just be done away with as there are users who make good use of the WO priority field.
The ability to manage calendar event colour by WO status should be considered in Servicemax product roadmap. It directly impacts the front-line engineer/technician by enhancing their experience and making them more efficient, so it should be well-aligned with the purpose of field mobility application such as Servicemax.
Colour code will be the most viable and meaningful solution, considering the context of technician having large number of orders on a month and the need to spot WIP order from a month view.
Reason being, event text box is small (most text will end up wrapped) and in any case, other important info that needs to be visible at a glance has already occupied the unwrapped part of the event text.

Our Field Techs have been dying for this as well but they don't have Ipads, they use the Windows App on their Lenovo's. Would be good to have this enhancement in that app as well.
I just completed a visit to all of our state offices in Australia to meet with the field service teams and a question was brought up by every single team around this piece of functionality.
This is a no brainier, as per the dispatch console where the Event rules can be based on the order status of a work order. I know we have the three bar colours but to be able to actual have the whole event change colour so the technicians know when a call has been completed would be fantastic.
This is simple usability that should be standard on the mobile devices. Colour coding helps reduce information display which simplifies workflow for engineers. This should be a must have and is standard in most other tools similar to this
We have started using servicemax (3 months now) and did not find anything related to color coding based on status of the Work order on the android device. We are using autumn'17 app. Provision of the functionality will be of great help to the field technicians
