It would be great if URL fields were compatible in the ServiceMax iPad app.  When tapped, it would open the URL in Safari.

Hi Stephen - In the meanwhile, you can try adding the URL into a SmartDoc/Output document as URL tag is supported in SmartDocs. This way when you tap on the link, you should be able to access the link within your iPad app if you have connectivity.

Anita,

Thank you. However , in our use case we are tapping on links which are used to access software to remote into our instruments. This will always be done prior to debriefing a Work Order or generating a service report.

Stephen,

You can create a separate SmartDocs and call it Links/Documents and only embed URL links in that SmartDoc which can be separate from Service Report SmartDoc. We tried this as a workaround for another customer who needed to access URL within iPad app.

Anita,

Thank you. We can use that in the interim as a workaround.

Looks like this is in the new Summer 15 release.

That's right! This feature is now available along with Custom Actions support for both web services and URLs. You can find the latest release notes here.
