iPhone - Improve UI for working with picklists

iPhone - Improve UI for working with picklists

Idea 1

When you try to populate a picklist field, only tapping on the green area works. Whereas if you click the down arrow (highlighted in red), nothing happens. This makes no logical sense as you would expect clicking the down arrow to show the picklist values. This leads to frustration for our technicians.

Idea 2

When you do expand the picklist, if you expand it near the bottom of the screen, the picklist values are shown beyond the bottom of the screen, meaning you have to scroll down before you can chose a picklist value. The scroll wheel picker is also quite small and fiddly to use.

The UI should be improved so that either the picklist is always shown within the visible screen area (meaning it would jump up to the middle of the screen if it was near the bottom), OR...

When clicking a picklist, it takes you into another screen where you can use all available screen estate to choose your value, then once selected it goes back to the previous screen. Salesforce classic works this way, shown below:

The benefit of this is that you are using the whole screen to see the picklist values and its just a couple of clicks, rather than trying to scroll a little wheel that is less than half the size of the screen. Also, sometimes you can accidentally scroll the picklist wheel, instead of scrolling the screen, so this approach would solve that issue too.

Great idea ‌. This caused us a lot of problems when we went live with the US. It all seems logical. Time wasted in front of a customer using an inefficient data entry solution risks loosing customers.
