How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Is it possible to download only those products, which an technician have in his VAN? I tried via advanced download criteria to download "Product" by using following filter:

Field Name
OperatorValue
Related ObjectRelated Objectm Field
ProductIDincludesProduct StockProduct

but it does not work.

thx

Heiko

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Heiko,

I don't use the advanced criteria, just the standard Download Criteria

  1. Each user to the custom setting "iPad Data Cube" where each user is set up as a stocking location
  2. On the Product Stock record we added a custom formula field "download to iPad" (which we use on all the items we want to download).
  3. Formula: If ( Stocking_Location__c = $Setup.iPad_Data_Cube__c.Stocking_Location__c,1,0)

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

many thanks John! I think this could solve my problem. As I understand the "custom setting "iPad Data Cube" t's not a standard feature of SVMX, right? May do you have some more information about it.

many thanks again,

Heiko

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Heiko,

here is a link that will take you to the SFDC documentation in Help. This has a description and links to use etc..Custom Settings

here are a few details and screen shots. I would suggest you contact ServiceMax (Tech Support) for further questions on this method (they came up with it).

we are not using the state. We are using the Stocking location and the Territory number. The Formula field is looking to this object to see it the user has a stocking location.

In the second screen shot below, that would be how I would add myself to this custom setting if I needed trunk stock downloaded.

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

John,

I need the Products, which are related to the product stock. The limit the data regarding product stock, I created and formula to check, if locations service engineer equals to current user. If yes, than download the records, which works good for me. But again, I need the products of product stocks data.

thx again, if you have any idea.

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Here's how we selected the products:

I added a check box on the SFD Product = "Field Serviced Item". this was intended to flag service parts (trunk stock items).

The next step is to use this in the download criteria if true, then the product moves to the iPad.

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hey Heiko,

I think it will not be possible using Advanced Download Criteria for using this issue. SMax UserDocs indicates that the top-level reference records must be scheduled in the event-window configured for the download (See http://userdocs.servicemax.com/ServiceMaxHelp/Winter16/en_us/svmxhlp.htm#MobileApps/MobileConfigurat...). As you won't be configuring an event-window for your Product Stock items, this won't work, I guess.

Best regards,

Jan

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hey Jan,

thanks for you feedback, and that's my feeling too. If I have a event on product stock it's available on mobile. Without I have to download all stockable products.

regards,

Heiko

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hi Heiko

We have exactly the same process, first we do download all the service enabled parts to the products object (approx 6000 records), so each iPad will have the full list available. Next, from our ERP system, we get what part has been assigned to each engineers trunk stock, we then transfer this to Smx, but we set the ownership of the stock record in Smx to the engineers SF account, and then in the download criteria for the iPad, we just set it to download 'my owned' stock records.

And then on the parts entry look up we have an advance filter which simply limits to the products show to those in the product stock table:

It is a bit simplistic, but it does work.

Thanks

Russ

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hi Russel,

many thx, but I think this solution does not work in my case. If I download all stockable products, I will run in a performance issue (around 35,000 records). I can't download all stockable products. The stock itself it's not the problem, I get the stock downloaded, and the serials as well. But if I try to enter any part via work detail I need the product record of only those products in the van. I assume it will not work on mobile.

If I create an event on each product stock, than I am able to download the products via advanced download criteria. But than the technician has e.g. 500 events on his calendar.

best,
Heiko

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hi Heiko ,

What information do you need for your products ? if it is only a few fields you can add them to the product stock object as formula fields  .

Sigi

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hi Sigi,

the problem is, that on work details the lookup is to products in case of "parts". Therefore I need the products downloaded on MFL or any other mobile device like iPhone. I can't download all stockable products, because > 30,000 records, which has impact of performance during sync.

The advanced lookup filter reduced the downloaded products to show only those, which are in technicians trunk stock. So may assuption is, that I need only those products on mobile, which are in technician trunk stock. I can't use advanced download criteria, because I do not have any event on the product stock. In addition, I have no link from product which says that this product is on technician records. So far, I have no idea how to download the products to choose only those, which are available on trunk stock. In browser and online mode, it works as designed.

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hi Heiko,

What about not downloading the Products for the Stock at all? You may create a Lookup on Work Detail pointing to Product Stock, having the technicians select Stock items directly. Via formula fields you may display all product related information directly on this object. After synchronization you can then fill the Product-Lookup depending on the Product Stock item that was entered by a Workflow, Process Builder or Trigger.

Regards,

Jan

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hi Jan,

thanks for your feedback. Same idea was discussed with the customer., but problem is, that after select any stock, the SF ID (on browser) or stock name (on MFL / mobile device) will be displayed. They think, that the technician will be confused.

thanks and may you have any further idea!?

regards,
Heiko

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hi Heiko,

Yes I understand. This is an issue we were facing, too. However, you may change the display value of the Lookup-Field in SFM Transaction Designer (via "Configure Lookup") to another field on Product Stock (e.g. "Product Code"). Then after selecting a Product Stock record, the article code of its linked Product should be displayed rather than a cryptic string:

Re: How to download Products which are related to Product Stock via Advanced Download Criteria

Hi Jan,

thanks for fast feedback and I did this already. During selecting and searching it works, but after reopen the work detail line, the SF ID or the stock name were displayed. May this a problem of SF Limits or the current SVMX Release which is currently running (SU 15).
