We were surprised to learn that special characters in email addresses are not allowed on SFMs. They are, however, allowed from the Salesforce page layout. We would like the system enhanced so that our users can use SFMs to maintain email addresses instead of deviating from the workflow to make the change on the page.
In this case, we have a legitimate email address with an apostrophe. We would like the SFM to match the rules that Salesforce uses.
What is the underlying problem do you intend to solve with this idea?
We hope to have our users stay within the ServiceMax workflow to edit contacts.
How is the problem being addressed today, if at all?
Some of our users have page-layout edit access, so they can use the page to make the update. Many of our users do not have that access so have no alternative.
