Allow the creation of records from a lookup in an SFM

Allow the creation of records from a lookup in an SFM

We are on version ServiceMax 18.2

For example:

  • Imagine you open a Case from a Location with the SFM button.
  • Then you go to the Case field "Contact" to inform who is calling you. So you open the Contact lookup.
  • Then you notice that the contact that is calling you is not yet created, so you need to proceed to create him.
  • To do so you need to go to the Customer and create a new Contact linked to him, then come back to the Case you are creating and attach the newly created Contact.

Standard SFDC lookups (classic and lighting) have a button to create a new record directly from there:.

We should have the same on the ServiceMax lookups.

What is the underlying problem do you intend to solve with this idea?
Allow the creation of missing records from the screen where one realizes they are not there.
How is the problem being addressed today, if at all?
Opening a new tab on the browser, going to the object tab, and creating from there.

Hello Toni Lou. This would be very helpful! We are currently asking our users to exit the SFM screen, create/update a contact in a new screen, and then re-initiate the SFM in another screen. That's not the best user-experience and takes too much time if a customer is on the phone.

If we enable then it will be available for all users by default on SFM. Is there a usecase where you want to restrict technicians from creating new record and always select one from the list
