We’re nearly one month into our relaunched ServiceMax Community Kitchen!

Over the last 28 days, a lot of time and energy has been put into this platform – from our team AND from our users. Deirdre and I appreciate the feedback you’ve given us, as well the patience you have had as we fix bugs and implement changes.

A key place where we have received feedback and suggestions was on my last blog post, “Your Feedback: Community Relaunch" In order to prevent everyone from getting a ton of notifications, we want to move all future Community suggestions and pieces of feedback to our Beyond Field Service – Discussions area.

That area is designed for “off topic” discussions that focus on community questions, networking, vacations – whatever you want to talk about that’s not field service focused!

So after you review some of the community updates below, take any other feedback or suggestions over to Beyond Field Service – Discussions!

Ideas: Find Ideas Faster

  • Idea Status Filter: Whenever you visit an idea exchange page, the statuses are listed on the right, and you are able to filter by each one.
  • Idea Comments & Views: Below each idea on the main idea exchange page, the number of comments and views is listed.
  • Filter Idea by Comments: You were able to filter by trending, top, and new ideas, and now you can filter by latest comments. See what people are engaging with!

Profile: More Ways to Get to Know Someone

  • Connect with Someone: On Lithium, "connecting” with someone makes it so that they can see your online status if you have it set to friends only, and it also shows their online status in your profile page. Ignoring someone stops that person from sending you private messages (they can send you private messages, but they won't show in your inbox).
  • Profile Photos: Add photos to your profile – you can add pictures of yourself, your company, you at a ServiceMax event, or of some of your hobbies! When you scroll down to the bottom of your profile, you will see a “My Photos” section.
  • Bookmarks & Subscriptions: Everything you bookmark or subscribe now appears on your profile for easy access. It will be on the right side, underneath “Member Profile”.
  • Retired Employee Status: When a company employee leaves ServiceMax, they will receive a “retired” employee status. This will let their content and contributions to the community live on, but it will let other users know that they are no longer with ServiceMax. Content: Easier Ways to Engage with Content
  • Nesting Discussion Comments: For discussion threads, if a user replies to another user, the reply will automatically be under what they are replying to. It will no longer go to the bottom of the discussion post.
  • Discussion Message Numbers: In a discussion thread, you will see “Message [insert number] out of [total replies #]”. If you click on the first number, copy the URL, you’ll be able to link to a specific reply within a thread.
  • Apparent Likes: You’ve always been able to like content, but now when you give an idea, a discussion post or comment, or a blog a “thumbs-up”, the button should turn green. If the button is not green, you did not like it.
  • All Label View: When you visit a main discussion page or idea exchange, there is a “Labels” widget on the right. These show all labels being used in an area, not just the top ones, as it was before. Click one of these to filter content.
  • No Post Confirmation Page: Whenever you post a comment, you stay on the same page as the piece of content you posted on. It no longer takes you to a confirmation page. One less click!
  • Request Access: Many users have suggested moving the “Request Access” drop down menu to the far, right side of the navigation bar. It has been moved!

Coming Soon

  • Badges: We’re working on setting up badges similar that will reward users for engagement, time registered, and more! There will be a separate post explaining how you can earn them.
  • Nesting: More enhancements around nesting comments across our different content types.
  • Ideas: General clean of up the space, along with a way to support idea comments.
  • Zinc: We want to welcome Zinc to the ServiceMax family, and what better way to do that than to invite them into our Community! There will be content and areas for Zinc customers and employees.

For all future Community update ideas and questions, please post them here, in Beyond Field Service – Discussions.
