Hi Heiko,

Great question and one that we have had several times.  There are a few different ways you could do this.

One is to create an all day event in Salesforce with the Salesforce calendar and invite all of the technician’s to that event. You can use the cog wheel icon in the Technicians section of the Dispatch Console to create a Rule to color code the events created. You can do something along the lines of making the event subject Company Holiday, then create a new Events rule where the Rule Expression is Event.Subject Equals Company Holiday, and then choose the color you want the event to show up as and then check off the Active button and click Apply.  Each of your technicians will then have an event on their Dispatch Calendar called Company Holiday with the designated color coding.

Another solution might be to create dummy Work Orders for the holidays and then, using the Dispatch Console, assign the dummy Work Order using multi-assignments.

Lastly another way would be for a technician that could add the holidays into his or her own calendar with a specific subject line so that the color coding can be done.

Thanks,

Heiko,

These are only work-arounds which lead to plenty of event records which eventually slow down the loading time of the Dispatch Console.

See my enhancement request here and vote: as well as this post Is there a way to add an event to all the technicians en mass using the Dispatch Console calendar?

Unfortunately, the Dispatch Console in general does not provide many basic functions similar to this which are necessary/ useful for effective manual dispatching.
